I have never been a long-term planner, I live my life month to month and I wish I could say I live my life day to day. I am always striving to be living in the present. Death is a far away event for me, but is it really?
No one wants to get up in the morning and think today is the day I am going to get hit by a truck.
But that is exactly what happened to Jackie Lue Raia’s mother, the spokesperson for NJ Sharing Network. Her Mom was killed in a car accident and Jackie was forced to make the excruciating decision to donate her organs.
Her mom’s organ donation has benefited:
One liver recipient
Two kidney recipients
43 tissue recipients
Her mom may be gone, but she keeps on giving, which was the way Jackie’s mom lived her life on earth.
Jackie is a compassionate, brave woman. She re -lives that car accident daily, while she spreads the word about organ donations, as painful as this is to her she knows that this is what her mother would have wanted her to do and she pays homage to her every day.
Jackie says, “life goes on and it is beautiful”
So check the box “yes” for organ donation today, I did!
