Blantyre, Lenox Massachusetts...

Quote from a summer visitor...

"I can't thank you enough for making my stay at Blantyre perfect! The property is simply exquisite and your staff is professional, top notch, and especially, quite warm and welcoming. There is not one thing I would change about Blantyre! From the beautiful grounds, to the lovely interiors, the detailed touches of interesting coffee table books and carefully selected in room movies, to the attentive and charming staff......I can't wait to return!"...

I was able to enjoy Blantyre this summer with a friend, who I brought along on a site visit. I would recommend Blantyre to any couple that is looking to get away for a weekend of complete decompression. They will not only find relaxation, but they will feel as if they have stepped into a time that was classic and genteel....

The grounds of Blantyre are pristine, with rolling lawns leading up to the venerable mansion that houses the main components of the property. There is also an area called the Cottages and the Carriage House that offer beautiful rooms as well. They are decorated in tapestry and furnishings of a bygone era. Each has its own name and character, in honor of well know Berkshire estates. What caught my eye was the attention to detail at every corner! The rooms have wonderful coffee table books that you are actually drawn to read! The DVD selections are carefully chosen and embody the classic sense of the place. I watched “Breakfast at Tiffanys” one evening!

One afternoon, my friend and I sat in the stately main “lobby”, which is a very large living room, complete with classic furnishings and more of those enticing coffee table books. There is always fresh fruit on display in this room, as well as a vast array of teas and homemade lemonade. As we sat in our comfortable club chairs, we were served directly at our seats by a polished “bartender” who pushed the beautiful antique barcart right up to us! We had the most memorable drink served in an antique highball glass, and were charmed but not intrusively, by our wonderful host. We felt like queens for the day! Blantyre has trained their staff well and it shows!

They include a full breakfast in their rates, which is served on china and hi lights local orchards, bakeries, and farms in their menu selections. I stuffed myself each morning as it was too good to leave behind!

The Berkshires surrounds Blantyre...Lenox center is a mile away. Stockbridge and Great Barrington are 10 minutes away. There is so much to do that you will honestly have to go a few times to enjoy it all. The arts are in abundance. In the summer, there is Tanglewood, but there is also Jacob’s Pillow dance, as well as Shakespeare and Co. There are a host of other smaller performing arts venues. There are hiking trails, biking trails, fishing and kayaking, all within a 30 minute drive. The staff at Blantyre will help you map out a day outdoors, or they will secure you tickets to a performance of your choice. They make it all happen, and that is another reason that makes this property special. You are treated as if you were a guest of the Astors!

Do yourself a favor and get out of the rat race....step back to the year 1901 for a weekend!
